Why this resort earns its keep

The highlights, in plain language

  • Sunset-facing suites

Every room frames the Pacific. Time your check-in for the late-afternoon glow and you'll never want to leave the terrace.

  • Private plunge pools

Heated, deep enough to actually swim, and angled so the waterline disappears into the horizon.

  • Chef-led dining

A four-restaurant collection led by a chef who shops the Mercado del Mar three times a week.

  • Spa with intent

Treatments built around the moon and tide schedule — think candlelit hydrotherapy and watsu pools cut into the cliff.

  • Anticipatory service

Your butler learns your coffee order on day one and your dinner instincts by day two.

  • Private yacht access

Walk to the private marina elevator and step onto a 60-ft Sunseeker without ever touching a parking lot.

The vibe

This is the resort you book when you want luxury that whispers. The architecture is cut into the cliff itself — long, low buildings the color of the surrounding stone, lit at night by lanterns rather than spotlights.

It feels like a private members' club that happens to have rooms. You'll see the same fifteen couples at sunset on the cliff lounge each night. You'll start nodding to them by day three. By day five they're inviting you to share a bottle of mezcal.

Rooms & suites

Every category includes a private terrace, a plunge pool, and an outdoor shower carved into volcanic stone. The entry-level Ocean View Suite is already a home run — 1,200 square feet, a sunken tub by the window, and lighting designed to flatter both 6am and 10pm.

If you can stretch, the Two-Bedroom Sky Villa is the room to know. The pool runs 45 feet along the cliff edge, the kitchen is fully stocked on arrival, and you can fit a private chef and two couples without anyone tripping over each other.

Food & beverage

The flagship restaurant earns a real reservation strategy: book the 7:45pm window on your second night so you catch the last light over the water. The chef's tasting leans local — yellowtail crudo with house-fermented chili, octopus charred over mesquite, a dessert built around mole.

Breakfast in-room is the move. Order the chilaquiles verdes and the freshly pressed beet juice, eat on your terrace, watch the cruise ships file out of the bay.

Mezcal lounge tip: ask for Erika. She'll build a flight that tells the story of Oaxaca in five sips.

Service

The butler program is the differentiator. Within an hour of arrival you'll have a WhatsApp thread open with someone who handles everything from snorkel charters to a midnight ice run. They never push you to book the in-house option — if the better restaurant is in San José, they'll arrange the car.

Front-desk turnover is famously low. Several team members have been here a decade. It shows.

Things to do

Sunrise paddle out of the private cove with a guide who knows the sea lion colony. By 10am you're back at your terrace for breakfast.

Walk the El Pedregal neighborhood for a quiet morning loop. The bougainvillea-lined streets are postcard material.

Yacht day is non-negotiable. The resort partners with a small fleet — ask for the half-day Sunseeker run to Santa Maria Bay with a personal chef onboard.

Who this resort is for

Honeymooners who want quiet luxury, not a swim-up bar. Couples celebrating an anniversary or a milestone birthday. Friend groups of four to eight booking adjacent suites for a long weekend with intent.

Skip it if you have kids under twelve, or if your idea of vacation involves a daily DJ pool party. There are better resorts in Cabo for both — and I'll point you to them.
